Sly 2: Band of Thieves

Picture
Release: September 14, 2004
Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
Platform: PlayStation 2

Synopsis: Sly 2: Band of Thieves marked a major shift in gameplay style from Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus. The game introduced a health bar system instead of the 1-hit-kill system in the first game, and you can now play as the other members in the Cooper Gang, Bentley and Murray.

In Sly 2, the pieces of the defeated Clockwerk have been shipped to a museum in Egypt, only to be stolen by the Klaww Gang. Each member has a different piece of the monstrosity, and its up to the Cooper Gang to hunt down each member of the Klaww Gang and steal back the pieces to Clockwerk so they can be destroyed. However, an unexpected foe just might foil their best-laid plans.
Plot Summary
The game begins in a museum in Cairo, Egypt, and the gang is trying to steal back the parts of Clockwerk so they can be destroyed. During the heist, the gang is caught by Inspector Fox and her new assistant, Constable Neyla, and find the Clockwerk parts missing! After Neyla reveals the Klaww Gang may have been behind the theft, the gang makes a quick escape and heads to Paris, France.

In Paris they find a member of the Klaww Gang, Dimitri, who has the Clockwerk tail feathers. During one of the missions, Sly meets up with Neyla and they decide to seecretly work together to destroy the clockwerk parts. Sly then faces Dimitri and wins the tail feathers.

Moving on from India, the gang traces the Clockwerk wings back to Rajan, a spice dealer in India. After completing the missions, Sly steals the wings from Rajan without confrontation. The gang chases Rajan deep into the jungle to steal the Clockwerk heart which he also possesses. After the gang snatches the heart, they are betrayed by Neyla who arrests Sly and Murray, but not Bentley. Neyla then claims Carmelita was working with Sly Cooper, and she is arrested too. Sly, Murray, and Carmelita are taken to a prison in Prague, where a spider known as "The Contessa" uses hypnosis on criminals to find out where they've stashed their loot. Bentley quickly rescues Sly, and later Murray.

The gang soon catches up with The Contessa, steals her Clockwerk eyes, and frees Carmelita. After escaping Prague, the gang travels to Canada, home of another member of the Klaww Gang, Jean Bison, and the Clockwerk talons, lungs, and stomach. After stealing them, the gang is caught by Jean Bison and he takes all of the Clockwerk parts, selling them to th Klaww Gang member, Arpeggio. The gang soon defeats Jean Bison and hides in a battery that is being flown to Arpeggio's blimp so they can regain the Clockwerk parts. Upon reaching Arpeggio, his plan is revealed. Dimitri fed everyone in Paris Rajan's spice.

Arpeggio can then use The Contessa's mind control on the spice-indulged victims using the northern lights as a Hypno-Light, and fill the victims with hate. This would cause Arpeggio to become immortal. Neyla has other plans though. She takes the parts for herself, and  bonds with them to her to form Clock-La. The Cooper Gang and Carmelita work together to take down Clock-La, sending her plummeting to the ground...but Clock-La is still alive! Bentley proclaims they must destroy the hate chip in Clock-La to destroy her. Once on the ground, Bentley places bomb on the hate chip, but accidently gets his legs crushed in Clock-La's beak, rendering him paralyzed from the waist down. Carmelita shows up to arrest Sly, not Bentley and Murray...but Sly escapes soon enough!
