I would have probably wrote this off as being a coincidence, but then I remembered a 2014 Facebook post by Sanzaru which essentially declared that they did not have any plans to develop Sly 5. Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time wasn't as much of a smash-hit as everyone anticipated, but it has, by far, been Sanzaru's most successful title to date. To willingly not want to capitalize on a follow-up opportunity, especially since they left Thieves in Time open for a sequel, is simply absurd. If they aren't in fact working on a Sly game, it certainly isn't by choice. A far more likely scenario would be that Sucker Punch, wanting a break from Infamous, decided to develop the next installment. 2016 would be the perfect time for a new release as the Sly Cooper Movie is set to hit theaters at some point this year (that said, there has been no news about the movie since 2014, aside from a recent interview with the producer who mentioned that they are still working on it). Again, this is all speculation, but I have a feeling that something is cooking over at Sucker Punch Productions...

One of the very first Sly Cooper fan websites, The Cooper Vault, formerly hosted at SlyCooperFS.webs.com, has gone offline due to inactivity. The popular hosting service Free Webs has begun freezing old, inactive websites in order to free up space, and many of the early sites that served as inspiration for the Sly Cooper Fan Network are rapidly disappearing. Without my predecessors, I'm not sure that this site would have ever been possible. I did salvage some content from some of the now-frozen sites over the years and included it here, but an incalculable amount of data has been lost forever. You can still view the addled, archived homepage of the Cooper Vault here. "Check out every thing in this web site, Its so good, its just plain criminal !!!!!" The Sly Cooper Fan Network has been backed up and saved with the Internet Archive Wayback Machine on several occasions in an attempt to ensure that if SlyCooperNet.com ever goes offline, it will still be preserved to hopefully inspire those who follow in the future. You can check out the latest backup here.
Today, on the fourth anniversary of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (an entirely unrelated game) and almost a year of inactivity, the Sly Cooper Fan Network has returned. Expect some insane changes and updates over the coming weeks.
(Note: I had originally included a countdown clock on this post marking December 18th, but I decided to launch that event sooner once I've finished working on it rather than wait. I will be launching something different on December 18th, just not as massive of an update. Stay tuned for the big event as it hasn't happened yet...) They say that time flies when you're having fun, and the three years spent curating this site have given me so many amazing memories. I know, I haven't been active at all lately and I haven't even updated anything since February this year. I can't express how sad I am that I've let the site fall into neglect, but sometimes life just gets in the way, and after all, things died down in the world of Sly Cooper after Thieves in Time was released. Don't worry though, I promise that I'll be back and I won't let the fan network fall into abandonment.
My Personal Opinion: I am skeptical of this movie as I detest the art style and Sly appears to have a different voice actor. However, I am extremely excited for the release of this movie. The premise seems epic and the very idea of a Sly Cooper movie is just outstanding (although there have been various fan-made movies over the years). Let me know what your opinion is of the upcoming movie on the Sly Cooper Fan Network blog (I recently added a section for the film), I would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. http://slycoopermovie.com |
